Types of Games and Game Strategies

Singles – A singles game is composed of one player in each team. The key to winning a singles game is to force your opponent to move around the court as much as possible. A good way of doing this is by combining two types of shots - clears and drops – causing your opponent to tire easily and lose his balance. A singles game demands good tactics, patience and agility.

Doubles – A doubles game has two players (can be of same or different sex) in each team. In a doubles game one player usually stays at the back while the other stays at the front. A doubles game involves a lot of speed and is very aggressive. The shuttlecock is usually served low. It is never good to return the shuttlecock high since this will surely result to an answering smash from the other team. For mixed doubles it is usually the male who is positioned at the back. This is because males are usually stronger and can therefore deliver stronger smashes than women.
