Bowling is a game in which players known as bowlers score points by rolling a bowling ball along a flat surface to knock down objects called pins. The earliest form of bowling dates back to ancient Egypt around 7,000 years ago. Bowling may be categorized as either indoor or outdoor. Outdoor bowling is played on a lawn. These are lawn bowls, bocce and pentanque. On the other hand, indoor bowling is typically played on a flat surface lane. Included in this category are five-pin bowling played in Canada , nine-pin, skittles, candlepin bowling, duckpin bowling, feather bowling and ten-pin bowling. The latter is the best form of bowling which has become the standard in bowling. Ten-pin bowling has evolved to become a professional competitive sport played worldwide.
