How to play the Game

The game begins by having a white chess piece move first which is then alternately moved with a black chess piece. Only one chess piece may be moved at a time. The Knight is the only chess piece that is allowed to jump over other pieces the rest moves along unblocked squares. A player is not allowed to move to a square that is occupied by your own piece but it is allowed to capture an opponent's piece that is located on a square wherein your chess piece can move into. A player is not allowed to pass or skip.

The Pawn can only move straight ahead but captures an opponent diagonally. It moves one square at a time but may move two squares forward on its first move.

The Knight is the only chess piece that may jump over other pieces. The Knight move is in a shaped of the letter “L”. It always lands on an opposite colored square from its old one.

The Bishop moves in a diagonal direction as long as its path is not blocked.

The Rook is the second most powerful piece. It moves any number of squares horizontally or vertically as long as its path is not blocked.

The Queen is the most powerful piece and is allowed to move any number of squares, horizontally, vertically or diagonally as long as its path is not blocked.

The King may only be moved one square at a time in any direction. But if the King is “checked” or threatened with capture, it must get out of that situation immediately. If the King has no way to get out of its compromising position then it is a “Checkmate”. The game ends.
