Glossary

All-rounder: a player skilled in both batting and bowling.

Innings: Each turn of a side batting.

Pitch: flat strip of ground found in the center of the cricket field, 22 yards long, on which the ball is bowled.

Swing Bowler: a bowler whose principal aim is to move the ball in the air

Seam Bowler: a bowler whose principal aim is to move the ball off the pitch strategically by landing it on the seam; also known as seamer.

Slogger: a batman who hits the ball across the line generally in the air; that is, the bat does not come down in a straight swing

Wicket: a set of three stumps and two bails positioned on each end of the pitch
