The Hockey Game

In a normal play, there are 6 players from each side of the team on ice at any one time – 1 goaltender, 2 defensemen and 3 forwards. The object of the game is to score more goals than the other team. The players control the puck using a hockey stick. They may also deflect the puck with any part of their bodies, subject to restrictions.
Play begins with a face-off. Two players will face each other at one of the face-off circles and try to gain possession of the puck when the referee drops the puck. A goal is scored when the puck goes between the goal posts and crosses the red goal line propelled by a stick. If a puck is kicked or thrown into the net, there is no goal. The last attacking player to touch the puck before it scores a goal is credited with the goal and is awarded one point. One or two assist points may be awarded by the referee to attacking players who made the passes prior to the goal being scored.
