The Proper Ski Gear

Make sure to dress warm while out on the slopes but realize that conditions tend to change so a layering system works best. Your body's temperature loves to change at the most inopportune times so you have to be ready for those changes. Look for clothing that is quick drying, light and warm. Do not forget a waterproof jacket and snow/ski pants. Gloves are of the utmost importance as your hands tend to get cold as the wind runs past them as you make your first turns of the day. Water proof gloves should be worn and children should be fitted with mittens to help keep their hands warm. The best way to ruin a good day of skiing is by getting cold hands. If you opt to go without a helmet you should consider a hat or head band to keep your head and ears warm. 80% of heat loss is through the head so it is in your best interest to be prepared for the cold. When buying skiwear, look for fabric that is water and wind-resistant.
