Glossary

Alley – area in the squash court along the side walls.

Board – horizontal marking found on the front wall. It is the lowest marking, with the tin beneath it.

Die – situation wherein the ball does not bounce due to different circumstances.

Officials – the marker and the referee

Racquet – the main equipment in playing squash. It is light bat with an oval frame filled with net.

Tin – located between the board and the floor. It covers the full width of the court and is makes a distinctive noise when struck by the ball. The tin serves the same purpose as the net does in tennis.
